Little Hikers

In recent years, we have put our hiking shoes on somewhat of a back burner.  We have the Kelty and all, and have gone on a few mini hikes here and there but nothing like before we had children. When we were driving up to the Tree House Camp, we saw a sign for a waterfall and we both knew that before we drove home, we would have to see it. So, once we were on our way home we stopped. We learned it was a 1 mile hike and thought we'd give it a try with the girls.  Jade was mostly on Daddy's shoulders but she did walk a good portion of it.  Hazel was stoked when she picked the most perfect walking stick! We hiked .5 miles to the waterfall, relaxed...put our feet in the stream, drank water, snapped photos, and then headed back to our car which was another .5 miles away.  Our very first family hike was successful!! Little do the girls know that we have many planned for this summer!!!!!

“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from the heart of anyone who believes in me.’”

Gathland State Park, Maryland.

Before we headed home from our little mini vacation in Maryland and DC, we saw this enormous stone structure on the side of the road, and knew we must stop. It was the location of the home of George Alfred Townsend, a civil war journalist.  The monument was created in order to pay respect to civil war journalists. It was truly beautiful!

Joe was exploring the park, and saw this scripture engraved on one of the buildings, so I thought I'd share.

"I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it..."
Ezekiel 22:30

The Tree House Camp

We spent two nights amidst a forest, nestled peacefully in a tree house cabin.  It was truly a lovely adventure in beautiful Maryland.  It was so great to be among treasured family and gorgeous nature.  We were so blessed during this short two day trip and cannot wait to return to our little tree house in the woods.
