Cabin F

So, we went CAMPING!!! 2012 had been a whirlwind and and since it was only February and we were exhausted we desperately needed some time away. Since Joe had a few days off, we decided to head up to Northern PA to camp. Now this is a place where there is NO PHONE SERVICE, NO INTERNET, AND NO TV, so basically it was HEAVEN!!! It was just US, with no outside distractions...boy we needed this!!! The last time we went up there, Maxfield was a teeny little thing, and we managed to tent camp which is how we normally roll....but this time...oh...this time...Joe rented a CABIN!!! It was perfect!!!!!!! The cutest little wood cabin with all the luxuries of home! I mean, it was even nicer than our real home! We had a great time! We made yummy meals, relaxed, and even managed to squeeze in a six mile hike! Let's just say, our kids are troopers and the last couple of miles we might want to forget but all in all it was fun!!! We saw beautiful waterfalls, and had such an amazing time!!! Sweet memories were made :)

The HIKE
And then the rain started, and the camera went bye bye, and the kids were over it, and the last couple of miles were not fun. But as you can see below, we made it back! The girls were dry, happy, and enjoying Popsicles!
And then we said goodbye to Cabin F!! We cannot wait to go back!!!!
You know us, we are counting down the days till we have a few days off to head out for another adventure!!
Lots, and Lots of LOVE!!!

We are having so much fun here in California. I am already bracing myself for the inevitable heartbreak that occurs when we leave but we are enjoying every second we have with our sweet family. Hazel has been beyond excited about being in California with Abuelita and her aunties, and baby cousin Jackson. Tonight she got to sleep with Abuelita in her bed, and was so very happy!

Little Hikers

In recent years, we have put our hiking shoes on somewhat of a back burner.  We have the Kelty and all, and have gone on a few mini hikes here and there but nothing like before we had children. When we were driving up to the Tree House Camp, we saw a sign for a waterfall and we both knew that before we drove home, we would have to see it. So, once we were on our way home we stopped. We learned it was a 1 mile hike and thought we'd give it a try with the girls.  Jade was mostly on Daddy's shoulders but she did walk a good portion of it.  Hazel was stoked when she picked the most perfect walking stick! We hiked .5 miles to the waterfall, relaxed...put our feet in the stream, drank water, snapped photos, and then headed back to our car which was another .5 miles away.  Our very first family hike was successful!! Little do the girls know that we have many planned for this summer!!!!!

“Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from the heart of anyone who believes in me.’”

Gathland State Park, Maryland.

Before we headed home from our little mini vacation in Maryland and DC, we saw this enormous stone structure on the side of the road, and knew we must stop. It was the location of the home of George Alfred Townsend, a civil war journalist.  The monument was created in order to pay respect to civil war journalists. It was truly beautiful!

Joe was exploring the park, and saw this scripture engraved on one of the buildings, so I thought I'd share.

"I looked for a man among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it..."

Gettysburg

We are a travelling family. If we had unlimited resources and a private jet we would be dragging our poor kids all over the globe.   However our budget is not in line with our wandering spirits so our travels are not terribly extravagant. We recently made a small trip to Gettysburg Pa. I am continually overwhelmed by how much history Pennsylvania has!! We made it to Gettysburg right before sunset and managed to snap some photos of the beautiful countryside and soak in its rich history.

Much love <3

***In keeping with our desire to pray for our friends and loved ones, and vice versa...our prayer requests are as follows:
1. That the girls would stop getting sick. I am hearing coughing, and seeing runny noses and hoping they do not get sick AGAIN. So pray for them.
2. Pray for God's will in getting plugged in somewhere in our church, that God would lead us where he wants us to serve.
3. Haiti! Pray for the orphans, I just read an article that broke my heart.

Post your requests if you feel led, so that we can all keep each other in prayer.
