1 Corinthians 3:6-7 (New International Version)
6I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow. 7So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
Each morning after I drop my wonderful husband at the train station, I get home at about 6:30 am and water our little vegetable garden. It has become so much a part of my routine that I actually look forward to spending that time watering. It has been so fun watching our little tomatoes, Thai basil, Thai chilies, eggplants, and jalapenos grow. We've tried several times to grow stuff in our apartment patios...with no luck!!! There simply was not enough direct sunlight. With the sunshine and heavy humidity, our little tomatoes plants tripled in size so much so that we had to buy tomato cages....and we were are so happy to announce that we have our first jalapenos!!! It is interesting to watch things grow...our tomatoes, jalapenos, and eggplants have all began with pretty little flowers....we are so excited to have our precious little garden!!! I am excited to eat our home grown tomatoes!!!! Our neighbors have informed us that alot of times squirrels will eat your tomatoes, but not to worry....they should leave us some too....those little guys better leave us a few!!!
Our little garden!!!
Joe's 1st jalepeno!!!
Here we are tending our garden with love!!! AHHHHH!
Growing this garden has shown me that without God in our life, nuturing by reading the word, and being open to his guidance...we will not have growth in our life. Many times I have attempted to walk alone, without God's word and have been frustrated with my lack of growth. I incorrectly thought that since I go to church each week, then surely I will grow. I'm sure I did, but not nearly as much as if I was reading God's word. I'm amazed that just like our garden needs water and sunshine in order to produce it's fruit, so do I!!! I need to read my Bible...I'm trying...sometimes it's hard with children and all...but I know that this is what I need to do in order to grow...and I am eager to learn so much. It is interesting what a 3x5 ft garden, and a new city will teach you!!

That is so cool that you guys garden together. I am trying to start a garden too! I think it will be great to teach the girls about pacience and God's creation and everything that goes along with it. Enjoy those tomatos!!

mon, You are so right about seeing Gods' presence in His fruits. The coralation with that and being in the Word is totally right on. Thankyou for the pictures and constant updates. These things make me happy even though I do not respond every time or even that quickly. I love you guys very much. To bad the gas prices are up so high else we could see each other more. This is good though at least we can enjoy this. Love your pain in the neck mother-in-law!
thanks for this verse and sharing your thoughts. its encouraging to see what the Lord is teaching you. i love your garden, that's so cool. i can't believe there are actual vegetables to be had from it. how was that jalapeno.
How Fun! Congrats on your veggies! Great job on applying the Word too!
i love your garden!! we see God's handiwork in nature, don't we:)
and how much more he loves<3 us!
my mom recently gave me three little roots from her garden to transplant in mine.
i really thought the little flowers wouldn't survive but to my surprise they did:)
i suppose you can look at that as an allegory also.
God is good.
love you friend. i wish i was there to enjoy some homemade salsa or something;)
Awww how awesome!!! How interesting your thoughts were on this. I was just thinking this as a matter of fact on Sunday myself? Wierd!
But nope no coincideces with God...although at times..someone needs to bang me upside the head on THAT ONE!!!
You know the person who tends the garden with all the watering is the hardest job. It's when the time of the harvest comes is when the gardening pays off.
Our spiritual life is like that!!!
Gods been teaching me this.
I am so proud of you guys for jumping right in to a new place and making the best of it. I really admire your devotion to your family and working together. You seem to really be getting a lot of wonderful trips in too. Your girls will always remember these beautiful memories.
Miss you mucho!
