The Perfect Spot

Everyone needs a cozy little nook somewhere in their house where they can curl up with a good book.  For Hazel, this would be inside a storage box, that she lined with a blanket. She was in that box for awhile while as she read her book.

God Bless You!

hats

My mom is very thoughtful. Very talented. Very sweet!  I just love her to pieces. She is always sending the girls & I little packages with the beautiful things she makes.  Hazel has fallen in love with ther little winter cap. I believe abuelita made it last year, but she noticed it the other day and it is now her go to hat each time we leave the house.  I think her most favorite thing about the cap is the flower!

Mommy, I love my hat too! I have worn it everyday since I received it!

We love you sooooooooooooo much!

Love.

Jueves

That's Thursday for all you Gringos!

Well, Jadey was a bit under-the-weather...so a quick slathering of vaporu (That's Mexican for Vicks Vaporub), some blankies and soft pillows, and yo gabba gabba is how she started her day.

Hazel wanted in on the action too!

Jadey was not too happy about that..

Then at dinner, Jadey got a huge speck in her tooth and looked like she was a little baby hillbilly!

And Hazel ate some of the banana cream pie, I just made...and loooooved it!

I was so determined to find a banana cream pie recipe where you didn't have to use instant pudding or anything. Why? Probably because I'm a wannabe amish momma (except I do not heart lard) and I like things the hard way. I was happy to have found a cool recipe that I liked and was easy.  Thank you Corynne for the amazing pie crust recipe...I finally used it. Aaaaannnd we had a lovely day!

Shout out to Autie Ro Ro...Happy Birthday beautiful lady! We love you!

Dixie Picnic

When we find a place to eat that we love, we get like really, really happy :) Usually we are content to eat at home, Joe being such a fabulous chef and all...why would we waste our money...really. We compile our menus weekly, treating our dinner table as our own personal restaurant. Representing my Mexican heritage on Tuesdays (taco Tuesday...holler), maybe Joe's German on a different day...Indian maybe one night...and always with an Asian flare sprinkled in. However, Dixie Picnic is our new FAVORITE place to grab a bite to eat outside of our home. Joe had heard about this restaurant along the Jersey shore that would make picnic lunches and sell them...we tried to check it out, but it was closed the day we were at the Shore. Quite accidentally we found this restaurant nestled inconspicuously in a strip mall. After talking with the owner we found out it was that exact restaurant that we had tried to visit at the Shore. With the economy, they had lost a lot of business, closed their shore restaurant, and moved close to us!!!!!!!  The wife is the chef, and incorporates her southern upbringing into her meals, and her husband runs the front of the house. They are amazingly warm and kind. It is very casual...wholesome and  home cooked meals, we <3 it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Having our beautiful family over (Grandma Terrie, Grandpa Bruce, and Uncle Pete) we were so excited to bring them to our newly found favorite restaurant. What a delicous way to spend a Saturday morning with people you love, and food that you love as well.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day was spent at home. Joe tried to get a babysitter so that we could go out, but was not able to. We instead went swimming, and then later Joe made us a fabulous meal. Quite honestly, I'm sure it far surpassed any meal that we could have eaten if we had gone out. Plus, we spent some awesome time at home...being LOVED.  Not to mention, Joe made all the girls scream with his live lobster (myself included)!

I

I made the sweatheart cupcakes my MY Valentines <3
We hope you spent a fabulous day with those you love!

How precious is Your steadfast love, O God! The children of men take refuge and put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.

Snow Day

“ Though your sins are like scarlet,

They shall be as white as snow;

Though they are red like crimson,

They shall be as wool."

Icicles & Biscuits

I am amazed by winter. The cold. The snow. The ice. But I am so excited that one outcome of our recent snowy woes is the icicle. I was ecstatic to see them in our neighborhood and low and behold....on our little cozy house! Yay! So I snapped a few pictures, rather quickly to avoid death by icicle and drippy drops on my camera.

As if our morning could not get any better (with the icicles and all) Joe and I joined forces to make fabulous biscuits (me) and gravy (him)!

Snowmageddon!!!

Well, for anyone that doesn't watch the news, the East Coast has been hit with the worst blizzard(s) in years. We have experienced copious amounts of delicious white pow as you will see... Good times indoors and out...

Don't doubt yourself.

He has hope. He is positive. He is the optimist joined in life with a forever pessimist. He leaps in faith, when I would just not try and exclaim..."it's too impossible!” That is why I love him. As we embarked upon an adventure today, in the city, and I felt insignificant he said, "Don't doubt yourself!"...and I knew I would always love him. I've always known.

Love and Prayers to you!
Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
Lamentations 3:22
